About the artist: OLAF WIEGHORST, 1899-1988, was a Danish born painter who emigrated to the United States and is best known for magnificent landscapes and equestrian paintings of the American West. He captured nostalgia for a time rapidly vanishing to history, which previously was depicted by painters like Frederic Remington and Charles Marion Russell.
Olaf was a self-trained artist who had an affinity for horses, cowboys, Native American Indians and the settlers who helped shape the Western landscape. During his career he sketched and painted hundreds of pieces of work, of which only 92 were issued in LIMITED EDITION PRINTS. His work hangs in a number of museums and in private ownership collections..
